Hitman’s developer, IO Interactive, just released a new trailer for their next game – Hitman 3. The trailer highlights Chongqing, one of the new locations Agent 47 will travel to.
Chongqing is a rainy Chinese metropolis, and IOI thinks its wet, neon-lit streets are a perfect opportunity to give us a peek at the technology behind their new Glacier engine. And they aren’t wrong.
In the new trailer, we can see raindrops sliding down Agent 47’s coat while the lights around him reflect off of his perfectly polished dome. There aren’t many better ways to show off a game’s visuals than the combination of water effects and lighting.
But IO Interactive are particularly proud of Hitman 3’s AI. They continue to “push the envelope” with over 300 active NPCs in the same location, which sounds impressive. I hope it’ll translate to many, many new and exciting ways for us to get our mark.
The new Hitman 3 trailer mentions a lot of other small, neat touches, like how 47’s clothes will get wet when he’s out in the rain, optimized animations, better sound, and more responsive combat.
On PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC, Hitman 3 will run in 4K, 60FPS, with HDR. These new improvements will be available for all other locations as well, including the ones from Hitman 1 and Hitman 2.
It’ll be interesting to see how Hitman 3 uses all of it’s new bells and whistles when it comes out on January 20, 2021.
