Sony had a little surprise for us at the end of the PlayStation 5 Showcase, right after they revealed the PlayStation 5’s prices and launch date.
That surprise was a teaser for a new God of War – God of War Ragnarok.
God of War Ragnarok probably isn’t the game’s real title, but that’s how we’re going to call it, since that’s all we have to go on right now.
The game is a direct sequel to 2018’s God of War – a fantastic soft reboot of Santa Monica Studios’ series. Then, we played as Kratos, the Ghost of Sparta, and his BOY(!) Atreus as they explore the Nordic lands and fight some gods.
We won’t spoil the story, but let’s just say we still have a score to settle with more than a few Nordic gods.
The most exciting part of the teaser reveal was right at the end. God of War Ragnarok is coming in 2021. If you thought you can sleep on PlayStation 5 until Horizon Forbidden West comes out in the unknown future, you might want to reconsider.
We’re eagerly awaiting more details on the new God of War. Let’s hope you’ll get to see more of the game around November, when the PS5 officially launches.
