Ubisoft is bringing back Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, ten years after its release, and six years since it was delisted on all digital stores.
The pixelated brawler will be back in fans’ hands in Holiday 2020 – remastered with all its DLC.
Ever since its release in 2010, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game was a favorite among fans of punch-’em-ups. And it’s no wonder – the game features delightfully retro pixel art, an energetic soundtrack by Anamanaguchi, and tight co-op action.
The game is inspired by both the comic books and movie, and lets you play as all the familiar characters: Scott Pilgrim, Ramona Flowers, Knives Chau, Stephen Stills, Wallace Wells, and more.
A total of four players can team up to battle the League of Evil Exes and their henchpeople. The original version only supported local multiplayer, although it did promise an online multiplayer before it vanished from the digital stores.
In 2014, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game disappeared from Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network due to licensing issues. It’s great to see Ubisoft is bringing it back, although without the help of Tribute Games, the game’s original developer.
According to the trailer, this re-release will include all of the game’s DLC. However, we can’t be sure if the online multiplayer has been added or not. A co-op beat-’em-up without an online component seems a bit pointless in the age of COVID-19, so hopefully, we’ll be able to play with our friends remotely.
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World will be coming to PS4, Xbox One, Switch, Stadia, and PC in late 2020.
