GRIME is an upcoming Metroidvania action-RPG developed by Clover Bite and published by Akupara games. It was revealed during Gamescom 2020 with a gameplay trailer that shows a lot of its promising features.

A weird unknown material collapses in on itself and starts pulling in everything, like a black hole. Eventually, you come into existence in the dark and gritty world of GRIME. You play as the sentient black hole, sucking up all that you can. With each absorption, you grow more powerful than you were before.

Adventure through surreal environments dotted with stone limbs and faces, and fight the mysterious creatures scattered throughout this interconnected world. You will make new weapons and upgrades from the enemy parts you absorb, and uncover many new skills and abilities.

Since weapons are made from the creatures that roam this freaky world – they themselves are alive! The weapons vary from anything between a claw-sword to a centipede whip. The possibilities seem even crazier when you understand that each of them can mutate during combat and evolve according to your moves and the enemies you fight.

GRIME

It seems GRIME gives players plenty of freedom. You will create your character build by choosing the weapons and traits that fit your play style. And since they are so many different weapon types to use, you will be able to switch between them on the fly. That way you’re never forced to use just one.

GRIME, as any good souls-like, will also feature big, menacing bosses that will keep you on your toes. Hopefully, they will challenge you to learn from experience after another harsh defeat, and won’t be just typical damage sponges.

GRIME is coming to PC via Steam at an unknown date. Once it launches on PC, the developers will get to work on releasing the game on other, unannounced platforms.
