Sam and Max, the world’s weirdest private detective duo, are back in a new adventure. This time, the suit-wearing dog and the hyperkinetic rabbit-like thing are invading virtual reality.
Sam & Max: This Time It’s Virtual was announced during Gamescom 2020 as the Freelance Police’s first adventure in over a decade. Here’s a trailer:
In This Time It’s Virtual, you don’t play as either Sam or Max. You are a fresh-faced cadet, eager to join the Freelance Police. But first, you’ll have to prove you are worthy.
The wacky detectives will take you to an abandoned theme park, where they will put you through a series of grueling tests. Once you’re in, you’ll visit other locations, like the Freelance Police’s office, their iconic neighborhood, and other places the developers don’t want to tell us about just yet.
HappyGiant, the studio working on this VR title, includes some of the people who worked on the original Sam & Max: Hit the Road by LucasArts, as well as on the Telltale series. The studio is also working closely with Steve Purcell, the creator of Sam & Max. David Nowlin and Dave Boat are returning to voice Sam and Max, respectively.
Sam & Max: This Time It’s Virtual is coming to VR headsets in 2021.Some of our posts include links to online retail stores. We get a small cut if you buy something through one of our links. Don't worry, it doesn't cost you anything extra.
