As Dusk Falls tells an interactive story about two families across thirty years. Both families trying to start over, but in different ways and for different reasons.

The game was revealed on today’s Xbox Games Showcase via a trailer showing the family members, and how their lives change when their lives collide into one another. Watch it below.

The drama starts with a robbery-gone-wrong in a small town in Arizona, 1999. That one fateful night is actually the middle of the story, and it slowly expands both forwards and backwards in time, to reveal how we got here, and how our choices impact their future.

As Dusk Falls will tell an “epic story of sacrifice, betrayal, and resilience.” It will also ask some very specific questions:

Can you break free of the influence of a toxic but loving family? Can you start over by moving home or changing jobs? Can you overcome your past?

I see two of these questions resonating with many players, though the first one is more specific. You can tell by watching the trailer that family, and how it affects your life, one of the game’s most prevalent themes.

The game is developed by INTERIOR/NIGHT, a London-based indie studio headed by Caroline Marchal. Marchal has previously lead design team on both Heavy Rain and Beyond – Two Souls before she decided to start a studio of her own. As Dusk Falls is their first game, and it’ll be interesting to see where it takes them.

As Dusk falls is coming to PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X through Xbox Game Pass.
