The next installment in Ubisoft’s Far Cry series has been announced during the first-ever Ubisoft Forward. This time, Far Cry 6 is taking us to the remote Caribbean island of Yara, ruled over by the cruel and manipulative hand of President Antón Castillo and his son.
As with most Far Cry titles, Far Cry 6 features a dominant main antagonist. And just like Pagan Min in Far Cry 4, our antagonist is a vile dictator. President Antón Castillo is portrayed by Giancarlo Esposito, known for his roles in “Better Call Saul” and “The Mandalorian.”
In the trailer, we can see Esposito’s chilling performance as President Castillo, as he teaches his son Diego a valuable lesson in cruelty. You might see something familiar in young Diego, and you won’t be the only one. Fans of the series are already suggesting he might actually be the fan-favorite Vaas from Far Cry 3.
Far Cry 6 continues the series’ theme of revolution and casts you as Dani Rojas, a local who wants to free his or her people. Yes, once again we can choose whether our protagonist is male or female.
The island of Yara is said to be the biggest Far Cry playground to date, with a larger map and more stuff to do in it. You can expect the freedom to travel in all directions soon after starting the game, and the option to explore any events occurring around you. You will need to complete them, and by doing so, recruit allies to help you bring the fight to your oppressor.
FC6 will have many vehicles available throughout, including everything between a horse and a tank. You will also have a vast arsenal of weapons, most of them come with a neat little twist like a deadly disc launcher. But best of all, you can look forward to the new animal companions who are as cute as they are lethal.
Far Cry 6 will be available in four editions: Standard, Gold, Ultimate, and the Collector’s Edition. If you pre-order any of the above, you will also receive the Discos Locos disc launcher, and the company of the cutest freedom fighter we’ve ever seen – Libertad Chorizo, the wiener dog.
Far Cry 6 will launch on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Stadia on February 18, 2021.Some of our posts include links to online retail stores.
