Hellpoint is a sci-fi action RPG developed by Cradle Games and published by tinyBuild. The game was funded on Kickstarter about three years ago, and after a long wait, it finally got an official release date – July 30.

Hellpoint heavily focuses on stamina-based combat, much like the Souls series it takes after. Similar to Deck 13’s The Surge titles, Hellpoint is a futuristic take on the formula, set in a distant space station called Irid Novo.

The game’s atmosphere looks dark and gloomy, with an almost Doom vibe to it. It will have non-linear areas full of secrets and hidden passages for players to explore. As such, it will also have multiple endings with an obscure narrative to guide you there.

It will have a wide variety of weapons – both melee and ranged. Each weapon will have a unique ability that unlocks after you use it for a certain amount of time. We can’t wait to test them out.

Hellpoint co-op

The most prominent feature that Hellpoint boasts, and quite the novelty for the sub-genre, is split-screen co-op. No longer will you need two different copies of a soulslike to die dozens of times together – now you can do it on the same couch! But don’t worry, online multiplayer will also be available on all platforms.

You’re going to need all the help you can get. The Irid Novo space station orbits a black hole hole in real time, and it’s position will trigger various dynamic events, like optional boss fights, or a sudden boost to enemies’ stats.

If you’re interested, developer Cradle Games has released a short sequel-like standalone chapter called Hellpoint: The Thespian Feast. The demo is now available on Steam for free, so you can try it out and see if this horrifying world is for you.

Hellpoint will release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC on July 30.
