Atlus is definitely having a good 2020. With the vivid Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore, the touching Persona 5 Royal, and the successful-looking PC release of Persona 4 Golden, the publisher is going strong and hard.

One of Atlus’s more recent Japanese releases, 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, is finally getting a western release date – another reason to be excited.

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim is a thirteen-sided mystery about Kaiju and Mechas. The game has already released in Japan back in November to much critical success. During IGN’s Summer of Gaming show, it has finally got a release date for western territories.

In 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, we discover a sci-fi mystery through the eyes of 13 different characters. It mixes top-down action gameplay when you fight Kaiju while piloting the giant Sentinels mecha, and switches to a side-scrolling adventure when you’re out in the world.

The entirety of the game is stylized with the iconic hand-painted visual style developer Vanillaware is known for. The characters look vivid and display plenty of emotion, and each one of them features full voice acting in Japanese, with an English voice-over arriving sometime after the western release.

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim is currently heading to PlayStation 4 only, and will arrive on September 8. Physical pre-orders of the game will include a physical art book. Until then, you can enjoy the game’s beautiful hand-painted art in the screenshots below:
