Scarlet Nexus, a new RPG by Bandai Namco, has a lot of the things fans are looking for: restless action style the Devil May Cry series, enemies with grotesque designs, and an outlandish anime style.
Scarlet Nexus stars Yuito Sumeragi, armed with a sharp sword and psycho-kinetic powers that’ll make your enemies shudder. In this action RPG, you’ll explore the city of New Himuka in a future where the human brain produces a psionic hormone that allows certain people to develop inhuman abilities.
Even in this new shiny era, you’ll have to take the good with the bad. Mutants called “Others” are landing from the sky in search of some advanced brains. Conveniently, they are immune to conventional weapons, so those with destructive psychic powers can hurt the Others. These psychics are recruited to the Other Suppression Force to serve as humanity’s last line of defense.
Your surroundings will be a notable part of the gameplay. Be prepared to break and hurl objects on those despised creatures using your psycho-kinetic powers. As seen in the trailer, you’ll be able to use items such as beams and vehicles as deadly projectiles. The combat looks fantastic, fast-paced, and colorful.

“Scarlet Nexus aims to change the way gamers view Japanese RPGs with a powerful futuristic aesthetic as well as a streamlined combat system that balances fast-paced action with strategic planning,” said Stephen Akana, Senior Brand Manager for Bandai Namco.
Though I was disappointed at times with some of Bandai Namco’s title, like Jump Force, others like Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot had me coming back for more. I sure hope that Scarlet Nexus’s vivid trailer is representative of what the game will actually be like since it looks superb.
Scarlet Nexus will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC. The release date is yet to be determined, but we might see it close to the next console generation launch.
