The co-op cooking brawler Bake ‘n Switch is going to make your summer a little sweeter by adding online multiplayer to its mix at launch. To do so, Streamline Games has set up a Kickstarter campaign specifically to fund the Bake ‘n Switch online multiplayer mode.

The Bake ‘n Switch Kickstarter campaign will launch on May 5. Technically, the game is ready for launch, but if the devs want to add online multiplayer without delaying the game’s release, they’ll need the community’s help.

Bake 'n Switch online multiplayer

Streamline Games was always planning on adding online multiplayer, but as a stretch goal after launch. However, due to community feedback and the current COVID-19 situation, they decided to make it a priority.

“Streamline acknowledges that now, more than ever, people are turning to video games to provide entertainment and connect them with family and friends,” said Alexander Fernandez, CEO of Streamline Media. “Playing apart, together is our shared global reality, and the team has rallied behind the idea of bringing multiplayer to Bake ‘n Switch. We wanted to bring back the joy of playing together, and we can’t wait for players to join.”

Bake ‘n Switch is a 4-player game with both cooperative and competitive modes. You either work together to bake as many adorable dough creatures into delicious treats, or punch each other to compete for the top score.

Our team had had lots of fun with the demo at Gamescom 2019, seeing lots of similarities to the popular cooking co-op game Overcooked. During our short experience, we saw a lot of the potential for the game to become a fan-favorite party game.

Bake ‘n Switch is set to launch in summer 2020 on PC and Nintendo Switch.
