Streets of Rage 4 video reveal new fighter and multiplayer details

Streets of Rage 4 publishers Dotemu, together with developers Guard Crush Games and Lizardcube, has released a new gameplay trailer for the revived beat ’em up.

The video reveals a new fighter named Floyd, who, like Jax from the Mortal Kombat series, is armed with two powerful cybernetic arms (pun intended). His mechanical punchers were apparently given to him by the Streets of Rage 3 character Dr. Zan.

Although Floyd’s movement and health recovery are slower than other characters, he makes up for it by having the longest reach in the bunch and astounding strength.

But the more exciting news comes at the end of the trailer. Streets of Rage 4’s multiplayer mode will support two players in online co-op and up to four players in local co-op. This is the first time in the franchise four players can beat ’em up together.

The game will reunite Axel, Blaze, and Adam after 25 years. Another character that will be available is Adam’s daughter Cherry which is equipped with her guitar that she uses to attack her foes.

Fans attending PAX East in Boston this weekend can play as Floyd in the new four-player co-op mode at DotEmu’s booth.

Streets of Rage 4 will be available this spring on PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One.
