The first episode of Kentucky Route Zero was released in 2013; that was seven years ago. The latest episode, Act IV, came about 4 years ago, and fans have been waiting for a conclusion ever since.
Developer Cardboard Computer and publisher Annapurna Interactive have announced that Kentucky Route Zero Act V will be out on January 28. The final act’s release date will coincide with that of the home console version, known as Kentucky Route Zero TV Edition.
Kentucky Route Zero is a dream-like adventure game about a secret highway in the caves beneath the state of Kentucky. It’s also about the lost people who travel it: an aging driver making the last delivery for a doomed antique shop; a young woman who fixes obsolete TVs surrounded by ghosts; a child and his giant eagle companion; a pair of robot musicians.
I’ve only played the first episode Kentucky Route Zero all those years ago, and I don’t remember much. I do remember deciding to wait for all episodes to become available, so it seems I’ll be traveling down Route Zero yet again fairly soon.
If you’re into weird adventure game, you should definitely join me. The game is already on Steam, Humble, and GOG.
Kentucky Route Zero TV Edition is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch on January 28, alongside Act V on PC.
