Raphael Colantonio left Arkane Studios after Prey was released in 2017. Now, the former President and Creative Director joins forces with ex-Arkane Executive Producer Julien Roby to form WolfEye Studios.
The new indie studio is dedicated to creating games in which “players live their own adventures in rich simulated worlds that respond to actions and decisions in ways that are unique to each playthrough.”
We’ll get a look at what WolfEye Studios means at The Game Awards, where they’ll announce their first title. Here’s a teaser image from that title that should hold us till December.

Yeah, it doesn’t really reveal all that much, does it? It’s barely more than concept art, but we can glean some details out of the image. First, the game may take place in a desert setting. Since there’s what appears to be a Joshua tree between the two robed figures, I’m guessing the game takes place in the Southwestern United States.
The monstrous red face on the back of one of the figures suggests the game will have a supernatural element.
“After taking some time off, and consulting for a variety of video games companies, I’m ready for a new adventure,” Colantonio said in an official statement. “The AAA market is risk-averse and innovation suffers from it. As a Game Designer, I’ve been wanting to try new ideas and approaches, and I believe independent games are in the best space to do so.”
“This is an incredible opportunity to work together again with Raf, being able to build the kind of unique and deep games we love to play,” Roby added. “The decision to work as a distributed team around the world has meant we’re able to find some of the best talents in the industry to help craft our vision.”
Colantonio and Roby worked at Arkane Studios on successful titles such as Dishonored, Prey and Arx Fatalis. Hopefully, this experience will translate into amazing new games – most likely on next-gen platforms.
Tune in for The Game Awards on December 12 to see what WolfEye Studios has in store for us.
