The Artful Escape trailer is a psychedelic Rock ‘n Roll trip

Publisher Annapurna Interactive and developer Beethoven & Dinosaur (what a great name for a studio) have debuted a new trailer for The Artful Escape.

The upcoming psychedelic platformer stars Francis Vendetti, a teenage guitar prodigy, and “The Boy Who Lived” look-alike. Francis sets on a multidimensional journey to discover his stage persona. On his way, he battles the legacy of a dead folk legend and the cosmic wanderings of his own imagination.

Players who choose to join Francis on his trip will traverse majestic landscapes made of sound and use the world itself as a musical instrument. They will walk, run, double jump, air-walk, light-cannon, trip, and dance across the multiverse.

The game also features weird encounters with all manners of beings, from a disenchanted publicans to lumbering alien wildlife. We can see in the trailer a few of these grotesque creatures, including a late show host from another dimension.

The Artful Escape is coming out in 2020 on Xbox and Apple Arcade. It might also come to PC, though that is yet to be confirmed.
