Afterparty release date and launch trailer break outta Hell

Afterparty, the next game by Oxenfree developer Night School Studio, comes out on October 29. Before you go on the best bender ever to save your immortal soul, watch the game’s official release trailer.

We previously saw about seven minutes of Afterparty gameplay from E3 2019, in case you want to see more of the game in action.

When you’re ready to party, hop into the shoes on Milo and Lola, two recently deceased best friends who find themselves facing an eternity in Hell. But not all is lost – if the two can outdrink Satan, he will grant them a ticket back to the land of the living.

You control Lola and Milo’s action using an “intelligent conversation system.” The dialogue choices you make will influence the story, but also your relationships with our characters. You will also be doing a lot of drinking, which should also affect which dialogue options are available to you. Each drink is special and will imbue Milo and Lola with specialized dialogue options and abilities.

Night School Studio’s previous game, Oxenfree, has heavy with dialogue and choices, so it will be interesting to see who they evolved the system for their new game. Afterparty does seem somewhat more lighthearted than the Twilight Zone-inspired Oxenfree.

When you’re not talking or drinking, you can take part in classic pub activities, like beer pong, dance-offs, karaoke, and chugging competitions. Sounds like a perfect night out, and a recipe for a terrible morning hangover. Though it’s better to be alive and hungover than drunk in Hell.

Afterparty is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via the Epic Store.
