Project Resistance is a new 4v1 asymmetric multiplayer survival horror experience, set in the world of Resident Evil.
Capcom has revealed Project Resistance a few days ago, but now we finally have a proper gameplay video, straight out of TGS 2019.
The game takes place at Raccoon City, home to the Umbrella Corporation and its world-class biomedical research facilities. You play as either one of four survivors desperately trying to escape these facilities, or as the Mastermind, a shadowy puppet-master who does everything he can to ensure survivors never make it out.
From what the trailer shows, Project Resistance falls under the four-player cooperative title, much like Left 4 Dead 2 or World War Z, but with a fifth player playing the antagonist, making it an asymmetric multiplayer title such as Dead by Daylight, or the ill-fated Fable Legends.
The Mastermind is a new character in the world of Resident Evil named Daniel Fabron. His job is to make sure escaping a lab full of hellish bioweapons is even harder than it is. Using a deck of cards, he can unleash all sorts of chaos: placing traps and vicious creatures on the map, locking doors, and turning off the light. He can also take control of gun turrets, zombies, and the ultimate threat – a T-00 variant Tyrant.

On the other side of the equation, we have the survivors. They were captured by Umbrella for use in its experiments, and must now escape with their lives. The four will need to work together to complete objectives such as obtaining specific items or destroying certain machines.
It’s a run against the clock, and each level starts with a five-minute countdown. Survivers earn more time by completing objectives and receive a time penalty when one of them dies and respawns.
To cope with everything the Mastermind throws at them, each survivers has a unique set of skills. Valerie Harmon is a chemist that excels in healing teammates. January Van Sant can hack cameras to limit the Mastermind’s ability to observe. Tyrone Henry is known for his durability and endurance. Samuel Jordan excels in dealing damage in close-quarters combat.
In case you don’t want to miss out on your chance to try Project Resistance before its release, the Closed Beta test for PS4 and Xbox One starts on October 4 until October 7.
