Koei Tecmo announces a brand new JRPG base on the legendary shounen manga and anime series, Fairy Tail.
But the more exciting news is that the game will launch in the west, and finally introduce the series to the western audience. I, for one, have been waiting years for a Fairy Tail title to get an official release outside of Japan.
At the moment, we don’t know a lot about the new Fairy Tail, but the reveal trailer shows it’s going to be a JRPG. We will journey in the land of Fiore, and play through the adventures of the series’ main protagonists Natsu Dragneel and Lucy Heartfilia, as well as other eccentric members of the titular mage guild.
Developer GUSt Studios is working closely with Hiro Mashima, the manga’s original author, so the game is expected to be as faithful to the world fans know and love.
Koei Tecmo makes a lot of game adaptations to anime and manga, with the last of them being the second installment in the Attack on Titan franchise – Final Battle. It’s no surprise that they are the publishers that will finally bring Fairy Tail games to the west.
More details will be available after the game debuts at Tokyo Game Show 2019 next week. Keep an eye on the official site, or come back here for more info once it becomes available.
Fairy Tail will launch on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC through Steam during 2020.
