Savior is a 2D Metroidvania action-adventure from indie studio Starsoft Entertainment. You play the role of Sam, a stranger thrown in the middle of a war in the island-nation of Arcadia.

There, you will parkour and fight your way through medieval wilds and a futuristic underworld depicted in beautiful old-school pixel art.

In Savior, you will hunt beasts in the lost realm of The Fallen, discover weapons, tools, and allies, and run, dash and jump through caverns thanks to the smooth, intuitive acrobatic moves.

As part of your adventure, you will encounter a large variety of creatures and entities you can either fight or recruit to your cause. From dragons you can ride, through heavily-trained soldiers and giant evil robots you need to fend off – this game has it all.

Developer Starsoft is trying to create something more than a 2D platformer with cool jumps and parkour. That’s where the reputation system comes in. Every choice you make has the potential to affect the NPCs in the game. Let’s say you are fighting a spearman one moment, then rescuing an old woman the next. That old woman can turn out to be the soldier’s mom, and from that moment forward he won’t attack you anymore. He might even join you on your quest.

Savior was first announced in 2016 under the name “Into the Rift.” Today, with a new title and a fresh new trailer, it looks better than ever before. It reminds us of Dead Cells, another gorgeous 2D pixel art Metroidvania.

Whatever you prefer riding a dragon or fighting an evil Robo-chicken, Savior is a game you need to keep in your Steam wishlist. There’s still no official release date, but Starsoft plans to release it “soon” on PC.

In the meantime, check out the game’s website for more information.
