Turtle Rock Studios announced they are partnering with Warner Bros. Interactive for an upcoming title called Back 4 Blood. Back 4 Blood is a next-gen cooperative FPS by the same development team that brought us the acclaimed Left 4 Dead series.
Turtle Rock revealed their new game in a recent post on their official forums, making Back 4 Blood soundly surprisingly like a spiritual successor to their original Left 4 Dead. However, this isn’t Left 4 Dead 3, but a new IP.

“It’s hard to overstate what an awesome opportunity this is. We get to return to a genre that was born in our studio with over ten years of additional experience and zombie ideas racked up in our brains,” said Chris Ashton, co-founder and design director at Turtle Rock Studios.
“We are not resting on any past laurels. Our goal is to take all we’ve learned and push forward. We know that’s a tall order,” add co-founder and creative director, Phil Robb.
Following the announcement, the studio also posted an FAQ with more information fans might be interested to hear. The FAQ states that Back 4 Blood is a co-op zombie FPS, much like Left 4 Dead, but will have a “whole lot of new stuff” that will make it unique. The game will feature a full campaign and PvP modes, putting to rest any hopes or fears of another Battle Royale.
Turtle Rock does not rule out microtransactions in their game, but say that if they do end up including them, they will be “something that the community feels good about.” That FAQ post did leave us with much to look forward to, so be sure to give the whole thing a read.
Back 4 Blood is set to release on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, though “more possibilities aren’t out of the question.” As of this announcement, the game does not have an official release date.
