IO Interactive has announced Hitman 2, the second season of Hitman.
Publisher Warner Bros. refers to this second season as a “follow-up.” It still isn’t clear if the game will arrive as a whole experience, or will be split into chapters, like its predecessor.
However, the fact that the announcement trailer shows only one location suggests the sequel will retain an episodic structure.
Just like original, Hitman 2 puts Agent 47 in hyper-detailed sandboxes, full of creative ways to kill people. We’ll have an “assortment of tools, weapons, disguises and a variety of stealth techniques to creatively trigger their own unique chain of events.”
That is exactly what I want from my Hitman games.
The first location we’ll explore is the vibrant city of Miami, where you will stalk your target during an in-progress motorsport race. Judging from the trailer, at least one of your marks is participating in this race, which should open up some very interesting kill opportunities.
No other environments were revealed, but the official announcement does describe a global adventure with sun-drenched streets and dark and dangerous rainforests.
During his new globe-trotting killing spree, Agent 47 will hunt down the elusive Shadow Client and his militia once and for all. He will also learn secrets about his past that will change the series forever. I don’t know what can shake 47 more than knowing he is the clone of five criminal masterminds, but there you go.
Hitman 2 also introduces a new co-op mode as part of Sniper Assassin. Players will be able to work together online to mark and take down their targets.
If we’ve been following the series, Hitman 2 shouldn’t come as a big surprise. IO CEO Hakan Abrak already confirmed the game was in development in 2017, and the Hitman 2 logo was leaked a couple of days ago.
Hitman 2 will be available on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One starting November 13.
You can already pre-order the game through the official site to get early access to the new Sniper Assassin mode, in both single-player and co-op.
