If you like bullets, killer robots, crafting and gigantic futuristic space stations, there’s a good chance you’re as excited as I am for MOTHERGUNSHIP.
This indie game is the spiritual successor to 2014’s Tower of Guns and is developed by the same people at Grip Digital and Terrible Posture Games. MOTHERGUNSHIP looks just as gun… sorry, FUN but about ten times prettier.
In MOTHERGUNSHIP, you’ll be designing your own freakishly huge weapons and board different motherships to try and get into their cores. There, you will fight and hopefully defeat an evil mechanic overlord, leaving behind you a trail of bullet shells and robot scraps.
The developers explained on their blog how gun customization is aimed to be “exploratory and game-breaking”. As long as the barrels are pointing in the right direction, you’re good to go.
You can make anything from dual rocket launchers to massive rifles. Want a 12 barreled machine gun that clogs up your entire view? Umm, sure.. you can do that too. Why not slap a chainsaw on that gun of yours while you’re at it? Get creative!
Apart from a ridiculous amount of guns, the game will feature plenty of turrets, robots and huge bosses for that bullet hell experience. There are also some platforming involved, and co-op mode. It looks like there is going to be plenty to do.
With its pretty neon aesthetics and Doom / Metroid kind of atmosphere, MOTHERGUNSHIP seems like it could be a great game to get all hyped about, especially considering how well-received its predecessor, Tower of Guns, was.
I’m personally really looking forward to this game. I will definitely be giving Tower of Guns a spin now, while I wait for MOTHERGUNSHIP to come out later this summer.
MOTHERGUNSHIP is set to release for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, summer 2018. Get your guns ready.
