You can expect at least 14 more Nintendo Switch indie games in the coming months.
Nintendo has released a new Nindies showcase video during GDC, showing off an impressive line up of upcoming Switch indie titles.
Some of these games are already available on other platforms, but some are actually completely new. A number of these new titles are even Switch console exclusives.
Light Fall, the beautiful indie platformer by Bishop Games, is a timed console exclusive set to be released this Spring. Players will explore the world of Numbra by manipulating the Shadow Core – a magical box used to propel you into the air.
The game comes out on PC as well, and will launch on PS4 and Xbox One eventually.
Another timed exclusive is Just Shapes and Beats, a “musical bullet hell” from Berzerk Studio. Players will be able to navigate deadly, yet oddly cute shapes solo or in local or online co-op. 20 chiptune artists have chipped in to compose the game’s soundtrack.
The game will also be available on PC through Steam later this summer.
Banner Saga 3 will launch on Switch alongside its PC version later this year. Banner Saga and Banner Saga 2 are also coming to the console at the same time, so you will be able to play the entire trilogy on the Switch. It’s a big deal, as save files carry over between games.
Garage is a gritty top-down shooter inspired by VHS B-movies. In this tinyBuild Games title, players will shoot their way through a zombie-infested underworld using a variety of weapons and skills.
Garage launches first on Nintendo Switch on May 10.
If you’re looking for another fighting game in the Switch, then you’re in luck. Fantasy Strike is a fantasy fighting game with martial arts, where anything can be a weapon. Well, probably not ANYTHING, but a lot of things.
The game is available right now in Steam Early Access and will be released in full on PC, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch this summer.
Klei Entertainment’s Mark of the Ninja Remastered joins the Nintendo Switch indie games lineup. The stealth game was initially released in 2012 as an Xbox 360 console exclusive, so it’s nice to see it on another console.
It would be interesting to know if the remastered version is also scheduled to hit the PS4 and Xbox One, but Klei isn’t telling. All we know for sure is that Switch owners will be able to practice their ninja skills in HD this fall.
Bad North sees players protecting their island in a rogue-lite, real-time strategy, game. It’s adorably brutal, and the visuals are minimalistic and stunning.
Developer Plausible Concept has announced this game will launch first on Nintendo Switch this summer.
Lumines Remastered from Enhance Games is an HD remastered version of Tetsuya Mizuguchi’s Lumines. It’s a bright puzzle-action game that supports two-player multiplayer.
The puzzle game arrives on Nintendo Switch this spring in all its HD glory. On PC, PS4 and Xbox One, it will support full 4K.
Reigns: Kings & Queens brings both the original Reigns and Reigns: Her Majesty to the Switch. As a modern monarch, players will have to deal with a never-ending series of requests from peasants, allies, and enemies.
They will do so by swiping left or right on their phone.
Reigns: Kings & Queens on Switch will feature an exclusive local co-op mode. If you don’t care about local co-op, you can already play both games on Steam.
Take a trip back to the days of classic Ninja Gaiden with The Messenger, from Sabotage and Devolver Digital.
Players will be able to transform the game from an 8-bit platformer into a rendered 16-bit time-traveling adventure, whatever that means. While doing so, you can unlock upgrades, new abilities, hidden levels and speed-running opportunities.
The Messenger will launch on PC and consoles this summer.
Adult Swim Games announced Pool Panic, a giant pool game with over 100 levels. Four players can join in on the weird fun, and play through cartoon jungles, deserts, and cities.
Bomb Chicken from Nitrome is a good old-fashioned chicken platformer. It’s a fast-paced game that combines action, puzzles and arcade gameplay. As a chicken, you lay bombs to escape tricky situations and discover secret areas.
Bomb Chicken launches first on Nintendo Switch this summer.
Another interesting addition to this list of Nintendo Switch indie games is West of Loathing. The hilarious Wild West RPG is a Switch exclusive, so don’t expect to see it on PS4 or Xbox One.
Pode, a co-op exploration puzzle game inspired by Norwegian art and culture. It’s also the debut title from indie developer Henchman & Goon.
Players can play alone or with a friend, as they guide a fallen star named Glo and a cute little rock named Bulder on a magical journey to “breathe life into an ancient sleeping world.”
