This is the Police 2 brings a mixture of adventure, resource management, police brutality and machismo to the remote northern town of Sharpwood.
Sharpwood is the kind of place that would fit right in in one of the Coen Brothers’ movies (Fargo comes to mind). It is a place where the inhabitants “know their neighbors by name and faithfully keep to their traditions, no matter how barbaric those traditions might be.”
All sorts of unseemingly characters live in the snowy town. You can expect Smugglers, drug dealers, and screaming populists to make your life as the new sheriff difficult.
The new sheriff is Lilly Reed, sent to Lilly Reed to restore some semblance of law and order to the town. This isn’t going to be easy since her subordinates are all manly men who don’t like the idea of taking orders from a woman. However, when a stranger named Warren Nash arrives in town, everything changes.
We can the local police welcoming Nash to their town in the first This is the Police 2 trailer.
As I mentioned before, This Is the Police 2 continues along the same path the first game did. It combines the adventure with management genres into one loaded narrative. This time, the game will be a tiny bit more strategic and tactical.
Since Sharpwood is a small town, the sheriff will take an active part in every challenge. You will have to make decisions in the field that can affect the outcome of any given scenario.
What’s more, your deputies are all individuals, with their own skills and personality. They aren’t just a resource anymore. They have their own strengths, weaknesses, fears, and prejudices, and you’ll have to take all of these into consideration if you want things to go smoothly.
Oh, here’s another cool piece of information. While we don’t see Lilly Reed in the trailer, adventure game fans might be happy to know she is voiced by Sarah Hamilton. Hamilton is known as the voice of The Longest Journey protagonist April Rayn. Since The Longest Journey is my second-favorite adventure game of all-time, This is the Police 2 already scores some major points.
I still haven’t played the original This is the Police. It’s been in my Steam backlog for ages, but I’ve never gotten around to playing it. Now with a sequel announced, I might actually do just that. Seems like a good time to sharpen my police chief skills.
This Is the Police 2 will come out on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch later this year.
