Bluehole, the developers of the insanely popular PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, have announced a new MMORPG – Ascent: Infinite Realm. A:IR for short.

Ascent: Infinite Realm presents a mix of high fantasy and steampunk, where magic and machines exist side by side. The main way of exploring this world is by air.Players will be able choose from  a selection of airships, vehicles, and flying mounts to traverse A:IR’s open, highly vertical world.

Air travel also plays a big part of the combat, and we know there will be a Realm vs Realm (RvR) aerial combat mode. Different factions will take to the skies in all kinds of flying machines to defend or attack their objectives. Players who choose to stay on the ground can provide support using mechs, cannons, mines and anti-air artillery.

The game was first revealed yesterday, during the G-Star convention in South Korea. The announcement came with a pretty long trailer, which shows clips of various in-game elements.

Ascent: Infinite Realm isn’t the studio’s first MMORPG. Bluehole has previously released Tera, which received great reviews, and is still running to this day.

The game will be published in the West by Kakao Games, in English, German, and French. The publisher is already planning a beta test in the first half of 2018. If you sign up to the game’s newsletter, you might get a beta key when the time comes.
