Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds DLC is out today, giving all of us a great excuse to go back to this wonderful, wonderful game. But how do you find the expansion first mission?
Before we even start, you should probably purchase and install the DLC, and then make sure your copy is up to speed with all the latest updates. It wouldn’t hurt to play around with the controls again, and even hunt a few robo-dinos before venturing into The Frozen Wilds. It’s been a while since the game released.
When you’re ready, simply follow this step-by-step guide to reach the brand new area called the Cut. Oh, but you should total watch the DLC’s launch trailer first., just to set the mood.
Step 1: Complete the Quest “A Seeker at the Gates”
“A Seeker at the Gates” is the quest that open up the game’s world. It’s a main quest early on in the game, so you probably already finished it months ago. However, if you waited for the DLC to try out the game (why?!), then you should know it will be a short while before you get there.
Also, it is recommended you be at least on level 30 before you head for The Cut.
Step 2: Find one of the Quest-Givers
There are 3 people who can point you towards The Cut:
- Rhavid, a Carja nobleman with information about the Banuk. She can be found outside Meridian.
- Ohtur, who knows how to get to The Cut, can be found inside Daytower.
- Yariki, a Banuk woman who can be found right outside The Cut, north of the Grave Hoard.
We recommend you seek out either Ohtur or Yariki. If you talk with Rhavid, she will send you to Ohtur, who will in turn mark The Cut on your map, where you will find Yariki. Yariki is the one who will give you the first actual quest in The Frozen Wilds – Into the Wilds.
You can also see The Cut on your in-game map. It’s the clouded area up north, as you can see in the map below.
Step 3: Survive
That’s it – you have started playing Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds. Now all you need to do is defeat the evil that lurks in that weird volcanic mountain. You also have the new Scorcher enemy to deal with, so try not to die in the process.
Enjoy!
