Resident Evil 7 Not a Hero DLC is coming soon to everyone who owns a copy of the original game. It’s an additional short campaign starring Chris Redfield, and it’s completely free.
But just because it’s free doesn’t mean you don’t care if it’s good or not. Well, you can judge for yourself by watching the gameplay video below.
Capcom has released a few minutes of footage from Redfield’s venture into the plantation’s dungeon (because every house needs a dungeon). The video is made entirely of gameplay footage, and shows how differently Chris plays from Ethan.
Chris has a military hamlet that provides him with a helpful HUD, as well as a plethora of weapons. It looks like Not a Hero will focus more on action than the original RE7 did. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, though it does mean will see a lot more of the mold monsters – the game’s most uninspired type of enemy.
Let’s hope Capcom has managed to improve the combat, which wasn’t RE7’s strong suit. I also wonder how this DLC will approach puzzles and exploration. It’s not really Resident Evil without them.
The Not a Hero DLC will arrive with the Resident Evil 7 Gold Edition, which includes all the previous DLC packs. A new piece of DLC, titled End of Zoe, will also be released at the same time. This one, however, won’t be free.
Resident Evil 7 Not a Hero will be available for free on December 12.
