Biomutant, a new open-world action RPG, was announced just before Gamescom 2017.
The game is developed by the Swedish indie studio Experiment 101, and will be published by THQ Nordic. In fact, Biomutant is that “kung fu RPG” the company has teased last month.
The game is set in a post-apocalyptic universe, filled with fantastic creatures to discover, dangerous factions to navigate, and 3 different worlds to explore. You’ll be able to pilot several different vehicles to travel around and between these worlds, including a UFO.
Your character, as can be seen in the announcement vehicle above, is a sort of ninja raccoon. However, not everyone will be playing the same raccoon. Thanks to the game’s character customization system, players will be able to enhance their space raccoon with powerful mutations and bionic prosthetics.
These enhancements will let you grow claws, sprout wings or attach robotic limbs. Each new mutation will impact the way your character plays, and will affect the combat.
Combat in Biomutant is a blend of martial arts, swords, guns and mechs. You can craft new weapons and gears, but also a robotic sidekick that will help you fight.
Biomutant is scheduled for a 2018 release, on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
