Call of Duty WWII has a zombie mode. It’s called Nazi Zombies. A very creative title.
According to Activision, Nazi Zombies is a new take in the fan-favorite co-op mode. It is a “a chilling, dark vision of undead horror” that you can see in action in the trailer above.
The trailer was revealed during San Diego Comic Con 2017, alongside the names of the cast members. David Tennant (Dr. Who), Elodie Yung (Daredevil), Katheryn Winnick (Vikings), and Ving Rhames (Pulp Fiction) will be voicing the playable characters. Udo Kier (Iron Sky) will be voicing the Nazi villain, of course.
The co-op mode “transports players into a labyrinth of chilling occult Nazi zombies experiments, and monstrous creations set in World War II.”
The story follows an international team of… people (it doesn’t exactly say what role you’ll be taking) as it “peels back the vile layers of a malevolent plot masterminded by the Axis powers to harness unimaginable occult forces and create an invincible undead army.”
“With Nazi Zombies, we’re creating a frightening world full of terrifying characters and events that will make you jump and look over your shoulder,” said Sledgehammer Games Studio Head Glen Schofield.
“There’s an incredible amount of myth and lore, which our team has poured through in our development. “This is unlike anything before, we’re taking players to some very dark, grim places in Nazi Zombies. This is one hell of a horror experience.”
Despite it’s cheesy name, it seems like Nazi Zombies is taking itself more seriously than previous versions of the Call of Duty zombies mode. I like the intense, old-school horror vibe I’m getting from the trailer and screenshots.
By the way, the reveal trailer is fairly similar to the leaked version we saw a few days ago. I do think the final product is way better, though. At least much better edited. Oh, and apparently it isn’t called Army of the Dead.
Call of Duty WWII is scheduled for November 3, on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
