Warner Bros. has unveiled the new Middle-earth: Shadow of War story trailer, and it raises more questions than it answers. Like what the heck is going on.

There are plenty of cool and bloody moments in the trailer, but there is also a lot of new information to digest. There are giant spiders, Nazgul, ghosts, magical rings, possessed orcs and sky beams. Oh, and Sauron finally makes an appearance. We also see a few new allies that join Talion’s side, including this lady in black that wants us to sacrifice the little we have left for an unmentioned goal. I wonder who she is.

The one thing I learned from the trailer is that Talion and Celebrimbor have forged a new Ring of Power, and are using it to command an army against Mordor. We will fight the Nazgul and Sauron throughout the game in a “monumental battle” for the fate of Middle-earth.

It would be nice to confront Sauron after we spent all of the previous game dispatching is underlings. Fun as it was, I’m not invading Mordor to fight anyone lesser than The Lord of the Rings himself. It’s good that we finally get to do that.

If your looking for more than a trailer, you can go back a few months and re-watch Middle-earth: Shadow of War gameplay video again. Though if you can wait a few days, we’ll probably see some new footage at E3 2017.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War comes out on August 22, for the PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and the new Project Scorpio.
