Ninja Theory has finally announce the release date for Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. The indie AAA title will be released on PC and PlayStation 4 on August 8. That means we only have about 2 months to get ready for Ragnarok.
And Ragnarok is most definitely coming, according to the game’s new trailer. It’s just creepy enough to grab my attention, and doesn’t reveal all that much (apart form the new release date) to keep me intrigued. Plus, it looks absolutely gorgeous.
We did see some Hellblade alpha gameplay footage not that long ago, which was really interesting and a little bit disturbing – a combination I personally love.
After the short video is done, we are greeted by Dominic Matthews, a product development ninja (he isn’t a very good ninja, since we can see clearly see him standing there). Matthews explains how important it is for Ninja Theory to bring back games that are somewhere between indie darlings and AAA powerhouses, that offer creatively diverse experiences.
If you like what you see, and want to ensure we get more games like Hellblade in the future, you can pre-order the game right now on the PlayStation Store, Steam or GOG, for $29.99 / €29.99 / £24.99. Pre-ordering the game on PS4 will net you an exclusive dynamic theme of the iconic burning tree scene from the game. IF you chose to get the game for the PC, you’ll be getting an exclusive digital comic written by creative director Tameem Antoniades with art by multiple Eisner Award nominee Ben Templesmith.
That’s pretty much it. In two months you’ll be able to help Senua on her journey through her own personal hell brought about by her mental illness. You’ll be able to do so on PS4 and PC.
