Developer Iron Galaxy and Publisher Maximum Games have come together to announce Extinction – a fast-paced action game where you fight against the Ravenii. You will fight these Ravenii as Avil, one of the world’s last Sentinels.
It’s worth mentioning that the Ravenii are a race of 150-foot-tall ogres that can regenerate their limbs. Their only weak point seems to be their neck, judging by the cinematic trailer above. If you’re thinking “Hey, that sounds a lot like Attack on Titan”, I can assure you you are not the only one thinking that.
According to the developers, Extinction is “absolutely relentless”. You will fight the massive ogres and their minions across a sprawling countryside, defending cities and rescuing villagers. Hordes of enemies will attack you from the ground and the air, and you’re have to “tactically disarm and dismember” them before going in for the kill. Sounds like fun.
There are also promises of a dynamic skill system that should suit every playstyle, dynamic side missions, a deep story campaign and fully destructible environments you can freely move around in like its some sort of modern action game.
Combat will be free-flowing, with wall runs, vaults and dynamic aerial maneuvers (they really love the word “dynamic” at Iron Galaxy). Avil will also be able to climb the giant monsters and expose their weak points before he strikes.
Another cool feature is Custom Battles. Players can create custom battlegrounds with varied objectives, and share them with the game’s online community.
Extinction is will shown behind closed doors at E3 2017 later this month, and will come out on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC in Q1 2018.
