We’ve been waiting for South Park: The Fractured But Whole for a while now, but today Ubisoft finally gave us the game’s latest release date – October 17, 2017. Let’s hope it’s also the final one.
Alongside this announcement, just to show they really mean it, Ubisoft has released a new South Park: The Fractured But Whole trailer, filled with fart jokes, superhero references, some gameplay and one classic Super Craig moment.
Since its been so long since the game was announced in June of 2015, you probably don’t remember what the game is about. The Fractured but Whole takes place right after the events of South Park: The Stick of Truth, after the titular stick makes it way to Butters, who has decided to change the roles of the game. Now, the kids are playing superheroes instead of wizards and knights, and the New Kid is once again at square one.
We got to The Fractured But Whole in action about a year ago, in E3 2016, where we witness the character creation process and the new combat system. Needless to say, South Park fans will not be disappointed by the humor and writing. The game looks to be a step up from The Stick of Truth, which nailed down that South Park vibe, but was a bit bare-boned when it came to the gameplay.
We are likely to get another, final look at the game during Ubisoft’s E3 2017 conference, on June 12.
South Park: The Fractured But Whole will be released on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on October 17. It’s interesting to note that the 21st season of South Park will begin this August, so maybe we’ll get a few special episodes prior to the release of the game, like with South Park: The Stick of Truth.
