EA has released the first trailer for Star Wars Battlefront 2 during today’s Star Wars Celebration event. It consists entirely out of game engine footage and some epic moments.
This debut trailer focuses on the game’s single-player campaign, something the first Battlefront sorely needed. According to the video and the information released with it, we will play as Commander Iden Versio (played by Janina Gavankar, whom you might know as agent Diana Thomas from Sleepy Hollow), leader of the Empire’s elite special forces. After witnessing the destruction of the second Death Star, Versio and Inferno Squad embark on an “extraordinary odyssey of revenge, betrayal, and redemption” that spans the 30 year gap between Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
During the campaign, players will take control on other characters besides Iden Versio, including many beloved heroes from the movies. These heroes and villains will also be playable in the game’s multiplayer. Darth Maul, Yoda, Kylo Ren, Luke Skywalker, Rey and other iconic characters will all be available to play in the multiplayer, and in certain modes players will be able to pit heroes from the prequels trilogy, original trilogy, and new trilogy against one another in combat. Maybe we’ll finally be able to set the age of debate of who will win in a fight between Jar Jar Binks or C3PO…
There will also be a variety of new maps to fight in, on planets such as Endor, Hoth, Takodana, Yavin, Naboo, Tatooine and more. You can expect new weapons, improved modification options and even space battles (another feature the original game lacked) with new starfighters to fly in.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 will be released on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 17. If you pre-order the Elite Trooper Deluxe Edition, you can start playing on November 14, but if you’re an Origin Access or EA Access member, you can play as early as November 9.
