Bungie has released the first full Destiny 2 trailer, titled “Rally the Troops”.
While the cinematic trailer doesn’t really show anything from the game, it does provide us with plenty of background and story details. In the video we see Commander Zavala and Cayde-6, two of the Vanguard, giving an impassioned (or sarcastic in Cayde’s case) speech in an attempt to rally all Guardians to take up arms and defend the Tower and the Last City.
This leads us the the first official story details Bungie has revealed so far. In Destiny 2, the last safe city on Earth has fallen to a new enemy – the Red Legion. Players will once again step into the role of Guardians, and master new abilities and weapons to reunite the city’s forces and reclaim their home.
Do to that, players will travel to all new locations around the solar system to explore and take part in an “expansive amount of activities”, which include solo, cooperative and competitive gameplay. Speaking of gameplay, we won’t get to see any until May 18, when the first hands-on gameplay footage will be streamed live around the world.
Bungie also confirmed that Destiny 2 will be coming to the PC, a first for the series, alongside the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The official release date is September 8.
