Microsoft has unveiled the lineup of free games for Xbox Live Gold members, as part of Games with Gold April 2017.
As start, as we always do, with the two free Xbox One games. The first title, which will be available for the entire month, is Ryse: Son of Rome. This hack-and-slash game is about a Roman centurion leading an army against the enemies of the Roman Empire, and those who killed his family. Expect some dismemberment and QTEs.
Next we have The Walking Dead Season 2. While not as good (in my opinion at least) as the original season, Clementine’s journey is through the zombie apocalypse is still filled with touching moments and tough decisions. The Walking Dead Season 2 will be available between April 16 – May 15.
Now, we move on to the two Xbox 360 games, which are also available to Xbox One owners (but you should know that by now). Darksiders, the great action-adventure / action RPG is available to download on April 1-15. You play as War, one of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse, who accidentally brought the end of the world a smidge too soon. There’s already a sequel out where you play as Death, and pretty much everyone who played both is eagerly waiting for the final installment in the trilogy.
Then, on April 16-30, you can go back in time and play Assassin’s Creed Revelations, the final chapter in Ezio’s story. It’s Assassin’s Creed back when it was still at its best, so if for some reason you skipped it, now is a good time to make up for it.
That’s it. Xbox Live Gold members have some nice, if a tiny bit old, games to play this month. I suggest you start with Darksiders, as it’s probably my favorite game of the bunch.
