Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice has reached an important milestone – the game is now officially in alpha, which means it is now possible to play the entire experience from start to finish.

The team at Ninja Theory celebrated the occasion by releasing a new developer diary video that expands on the Viking mythology and the research into psychosis that helped shape Hellblade and its protagonist Senua. That alone can make for an interesting view, but the studio has thrown in a bunch of alpha footage we haven’t seen before.

I have to admit that the more I see of Hellblade, the more intrigued I become. Playing as a Viking woman who suffers from schizophrenia is an interesting premise, and it seems Ninja Theory is doing there best to make it a unique and memorable experience.

Watch the video for some really interesting and slightly disturbing footage, and well as a peek into what Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice will be when it is released on PC and PlayStation 4 later this year (maybe).
