Nier: Automata is coming to PlayStation 4 in less than a month, and if you didn’t get a change to see the game in action – now is your chance, thanks to a 29-minute gameplay video.
This particular Nier: Automata gameplay video starts with protagonist YoRHa No. 2 Model B (or “2B” for short) picking up a quest, and then going out into the map to explore and combat a few nasty machines. Earlier on we learn a little about the game’s overall plot, which sees Earth overrun by machines with humanity exiled to live on the moon. 2B is a part of the android resistance, and fights the machines in order to help humans regain control of the planet.
We get to see quite a few frantic combat scenarios (this is a Platinum Games title), as well as exploration and even fishing. One of the coolest parts in Nier: Automata is the Reliquary System. When you die, your memories are transferred to a new android body and you can continue on as normal. However, if you find your old body in the field, you can either take it apart for parts, or try to repair. If you succeed, your old body will join you in battle. Fail, and it will go hostile and attack you.
You can read more about the Reliquary System and other aspects of the game on the PlayStation Blog. Or, you know, you can just watch the entire gameplay video above.
Nier: Automata will launch on PlayStation 4 on March 7, and will reach the PC later this year.
