Pokemon Cobalt & Amethyst is a full, single-player fan-made Pokemon game inside a Minecraft map.

The ambitious project was created by a group of Minecraft modders called Phoenix Projects. They worked for 2.5 years to being a faithful Pokemon experience, completed with 136 original Pokemon, a new region, and a campaign that stretches over 60 to 80 hours. I don’t know about you, but I’m impressed.

Furthermore, Pokemon Cobalt & Amethyst doesn’t require any other mods to be installed – it runs on vanilla Minecraft. The group has published a handy installation video guide, found above, so follow it if you run into difficulties.

Head to the Phoenix Projects website to download the mod and access a walkthrough. If you are at all interesting in Pokemon Cobalt & Amethyst, you better hurry and play it in case Nintendo tries and take it down.

If you’re curious to be how a Pokemon game plays in Minecraft, you can watch the walkthrough video below. It shows the first 30 minutes of the mod, as is narrated by the lead modder who worked on it.
