Vampyr has a new story trailer, titled Darkness Within. The name aims to represent the “duality of man and monster”, since the main protagonist is both a gifted physician and a blood-sucking vampire who much feed on humans to survive.
The trailer doesn’t show any gameplay, but instead focuses on the rumors the citizens of 1918 London spread about the good doctor. Some say he is kind and dedicated to the well-being of the people, while others find the fact he only works at night quite suspicious. It will be up to the player to decide which rumors about of protagonist Dr Jonathan Reid they want to feed.
Developer Dontnod Entertainment promises that every citizen we hear whispering in this trailer has their own own names, back stories, and daily lives. Furthermore, each death the players will inevitably cause (you do play a vampire after all), will affect London and the lives of others. Interesting concept.
There are also pesky vampire hunters on the prowl, so feeding on more people and growing in strength will become more and more tempting as the game progresses, or so we are told.
Vampyr is coming 2017 to PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
