Niantic has recently announce that Togepi, Pichu and other Pokemon from the Johto region are now available in Pokemon GO. Fans already know that Johto region was first introduced to the series in Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver, aka Generation 2.
According to the developer, you can only get these new baby Pokemon by hatching Eggs, and you won’t find them on the street (which is good, as the street is no place for babies!). Niantic encourages players to visit Pokestops and gather Eggs for a change to “catch ’em all”.
Other than Togepi and Pichu, other Gen 2 Pokemon are also available in the app, but Niantic didn’t really specify which ones. More Pokemon will be coming over the next month, and thanks to some expert data-miners, we can speculate that the amount of new Pokemon will be around 100 or more. It looks like maybe we’ll get all the Generation 2 Pokemon pretty soon.
To end on an even more exciting note, Niantic also announced that starting today till December 29, there will be a special Pikachu in Pokemon GO, which is a Christmas themed version of the adorable Pokemon. Trainers will have no problem finding it. Joy to the world indeed.
