We won’t be getting Battlefield 2 or Battlefield 6 for another “couple of years”. This information comes directly from EA’s chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen.

That’s probably for the best, as too much of a good thing tends to ruin it. And Battlefield 1 is definitely a good thing.

Speaking at the Nasdaq 35th Investor Program, as reporter by Videogamer, Jorgensen said that EA “won’t have another Battlefield back for a couple of years. Next year we’ll have Battlefront, the Star Wars game.”

Battlefield 6

If you remember, EA has already confirmed Star Wars Battlefront 2 will be released in 2017 in an investor call earlier this year.

Battlefront 2 will be “much bigger” and “much more exciting” than the previous game, and will based around the new Star Wars movies – Star Wars: Episode VII, Rogue One and maybe even Episode VIII.

“we were really working with the old canvas of Star Wars, the old trilogy, we weren’t using any of the new materials that came out of [Episode 7] because our game actually came out slightly before the movie,” Jorgensen said.

“Next year we’ll have the opportunity to leverage more of that content from the new movies and we think that’ll make the opportunity much larger.”

Unlike with the Battlefield franchise, EA isn’t concerned with gamers getting sick of Star Wars.

“There seems to be no waning in the excitement around the Star Wars world,” he continued. “We’ve got another movie coming up obviously in a few weeks and people are very excited about it, and so we’re looking forward to bringing to the table next year a much bigger, much more exciting Battlefront for consumers.”

While Star Wars Battlefront wasn’t to my taste, I think even those who liked it didn’t really expect to have another a sequel coming out so soon. I, for one, am much more excited to see some of the other Star Wars projects in development over at Resapwn Entertainment or Visceral Games.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 is expect it to arrive in late 2017. At the moment, we still don’t know when we’ll be getting another Battlefield game, or more Star Wars games.
