The competitive gaming scene in Mexico is blooming all over the country, and as the community grows, so do the events. Smash Factor, Gamelta Games Celebration 2016 and other major Mexican eSports events all aim to actively promote the competitive gaming community of Mexico in the eyes of the world.
Now, a new and exciting event is on the horizon at Xalapa, Veracruz. Its name is The Hadouken Fest 2016 and it’s going to celebrate fighting games with heavy hitters like Street Fighter V, King of Fighters XIV, Super Smash Bros. and more. The event will take place on December 17, at the Mision Xalapa hotel.
The main tournaments will be for Street Fighter V, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, and Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3. The prize pot for each of these tournaments is 5000 pesos (roughly $260), plus prizes for the top 5 participants from sponsors like Hydra Pro Gaming.
Aside from the main tournaments, you will also be able to find side events with games like Super Smash Bros. Melee, King of Fighters XIV, Pokemon Sun and Moon, Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, and Mortal Kombat X.
Preparations have been going strong, and currently there are more than a hundred participants signed in, with many of Mexico’s top players attending. Big names like Frutsi, Pony, Dizzy, Anabólic, Kusanagi, Gama, MK Leo, Waymas, Wonf, Serge, and Chaparrito are all on the list of attendees.
The Mexican competitive gaming scene’s input has become important as of late, a lot of the worldwide top players are from Mexico or the rest of Latin America. However, it has been lacking notoriety and media coverage due to it becoming “Irrelevant” on the eyes of the public media, thanks to the recent rise of popularity of E-sports worldwide, events such as Hadouken Fest intend to give more notoriety to Mexican top players and their spirit of competition.
GamersPack will be on-hand to cover as much of the event as possible. The Mexican eSports scene is slowly growing, and has gained the interest of many competitive players around the world. With events like Hadouken Fest 2016, and many more coming soon, this is great time to get in on the action.
