Pokemon Sun and Moon won’t support the feature the Nintendo 3DS is most known for – the 3D.

Recent tweets by GameXplain and Jose Otero form IGN have made clear that this feature will only work in Sun and Moon’s Poké Finder mode, where you take pictures of Pokemon in the wild, kind of like the classic Pokemon Snap. There will be no 3D support during the actual Pokemon battles.

Fans of the franchise will remember that in the previous entries, Pokemon X and Y, the 3D feature was also working during battles, but it made the game run very, very slowly. It seems that Pokemon Sun and Moon has decided to just get rid of the problem instead of trying to fix it.

The community reaction has been mixed. Some fans believe that this function is rather irrelevant and isn’t really necessary to enjoy the full experience, while others would’ve liked a full-fledged 3D adventure.
