Cuphead, the cartoon-style side scroller, won’t make its 2016 release window. Studio MDHR has informed fans of the delay in a recent blog post, where it reveals the game is now scheduled for 2017.

The studio was aiming to release the game 80 years after 1936, but now it will have to be 81. “Throughout this year we discussed reducing the scope to make a 2016 release, but we made the difficult decision to delay the launch in order to ship with our vision intact,” reads the announcement.

Cuphead was first revealed during E3 2014 as part of the indie titles for Xbox One. Later on, it was featured at E3 2015, where it was announced that the game would be up and coming this 2016.

Now, Cuphead will be released in 2017 on Xbox One and PC.
