After premiering new footage at the 2016 Tokyo Game Show, Disney and Square Enix have announced that Kingdom Hearts 2.8: Final Chapter Prologue will be delayed until January 2016.
Originally, the HD compilation title was intended to be released in December, however the delay is now pushing it back to January 24 for worldwide audiences. Neither party has commented on whether the delay is at all related to the recent delay of Final Fantasy XV, but it may be possible that the ongoing development of the upcoming Final Fantasy title hindered that of the Kingdom Hearts game.
In any case, the footage showcased at TGS 2016 will still whet the appetite of fans who are hungry for more Kingdom Hearts. In addition to more high resolution gameplay, the trailer focuses on the the titular “Prologue”, which bridges the gap between the 3DS title, Dream, Drop, Distance and the highly anticipated, Kingdom Hearts 3. In the meantime, fans can also enjoy the trailer and newly announced official box art.
Kingdom Hearts 2.8: Final Chapter Prologue will release exclusively for the PlayStation 4 on January 12 in Japan, and January 24 worldwide.
