Mass Effect Andromeda gameplay was shows for the first time during PlayStation Meeting 2016. The video was supposed to showcase the 4K capabilities of the new PlayStation 4 Pro, but we’re much more interested in seeing what the game itself has in store for us.

In the video we can see the male Ryder character exploring an unfamiliar environment. According to the in-game dialog, this place is a vault inhabited by creatures who “don’t turn nasty unless you get too close”.

The environment itself appeared to be pretty big, and much more open than we are used to from a Mass Effect title. The new jump-pack further indicates that exploration takes an even bigger role in Andromeda.

The only other character we get to see, apart from the protagonist, is the mysterious Asari we met in a previous in-game look at the game.

We still don’t know anything about her, or the story as a whole, but everything looks very promising. EA has already confirmed we will see more from the next chapter of Mass Effect on November 7.

Mass Effect Andromeda is set to launch in early 2017 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
