Ubisoft have announced that two online free-to-play games are having their servers close soon.

The first is Ghost Recon Phantoms, an online multiplayer shooter initially launched in 2012. By December 1, Ubisoft will be closing its servers. In a blog post on the website, Ubisoft said “GR Phantoms has been a tremendous undertaking and we really relished the opportunity to bring to you a different take on the GR franchise. We are proud of what we have achieved but of course, a game like this would be nothing without its community.”

“The shutdown of the game will take place on December the 1st,” the company confirmed. “The game will stay available until then, and we wish you a lot of fights until the end. The in game shop will remain available, but you won’t have any more the possibility to purchase Ghost Coins.”

Ubisoft have also stated that they will not be refunding credits that any players have, so the forewarning is to allow players to spend their last few credits and finish up their fighting.

Another game being closed is a free-to-play game The Mighty Quest For Epic Loot. All services in the game will be shut down by October 25, as stated on the website.

Whilst it’s sad that these games are being closed, it holds a lot of promise as the developers are going to move on to bigger and better things. We can only wait and see what Ubisoft brings in the next few years.
