Virginia is a new first-person thriller heavily inspired by 90’s mystery TV series, like Twin Peaks and The X-Files, with a dash of more modern works like True Detective. This is, at least, how publisher 505 Games describes the game.
In Virginia, you follow a missing person investigation in a small rural town, through the eyes of a fresh FBI agent Anne Tarver. The year is 1992, and a young boy has vanished from his bedroom in the town of Kingdom, Virginia, without any witness or explanations.
The investigation, naturally, starts to take a sinister turn, and Anne and the player will have to deal with a community that grows more hostile by the day, and make decisions which will shape the course of Anne’s and her partner Maria Halperin’s lives.
Apart from drawing inspiration from some very popular TV shows, Virginia also boasts “a memorable cast of curious characters”, a soundtrack recorded by the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, and an almost dreamlike atmosphere which can turn in a nightmare in any minute.
If you are intrigued by either Virginia’s plot or striking art style, you can try its PC demo on Steam. The full game will be released on September 22, on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.Some of our posts include links to online retail stores.
