Between the in-game cutscenes and intense super-powered gameplay, Ubisoft’s Gamescom 2016 trailer for South Park: The Fractured But Whole shows the brutal destruction erupting from the civil war that ravaging the peaceful mountain town.
The highlight of the trailer is the mid-battle movement, as showcased by a band of bumbling robbers who mistakenly broke into the home of a superhero. Moving around a series of spaces allotted to the battlefield, there is a lot more room for strategy in the upcoming sequel.
Character powers are lightly teased, but more importantly, the trailer also details more of the hero abilities for characters that are actually from the show. Craig sends a flurry of middle fingers at opposing players, while the wheelchair bound Timmy teleports around the map at will. A small reveal in the gameplay trailer was the fact that battle environments can be affected by the surrounding area, meaning that when a car comes through the street, players will have to avoid getting hit.
Ubisoft is improving on a lot of the original title’s mechanics with their upcoming sequel, just as we saw at E3 2016. Players will be able to experience all of it when South Park: The Fractured But Whole is released on December 6 for the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
